Think on This: 2 Timothy 2:7

The Apostle Paul wrote to his young friend and disciple Timothy the following statement:
No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.
Now, in this scenario, I do not consider myself the "Paul", rather the "Timothy". For years, a good deal of people have wanted me to start a blog, putting together some personal writings on various things. My main outlet for Christian ministry, since I became a believer at the age of 18,  has been writing. I do well enough in front of people, but I feel most comfortable with a pen and paper (or keyboard and screen). Now, at the age of 37, I feel like I may actually have somethings to say, despite that fact that I feel I have more to learn than I have already learned so far. I tend to learn, or "think through thinks" through the use of writing. If I do any kind of study, I have to have some way to record or else it will not stick.

In this blog you will find a handful of things:

  • The actual blog itself. Some things will be about current issues, but most of the time I will probably leave that to others who are more versed on whatever subject it is.
  • Bible Studies. I enjoy writing Bible studies for others. Right now, apart from working on this, I am also writing a study on the Book of Jude. It is a daily, verse-by-verse, look at the letter with the purpose of studying, but also memorizing it.
  • Along the lines of the above, I will also add short writings about what I am currently memorizing. As of right now I am going over Paul's letter to the Philippians. Yes, I am memorizing the whole thing. Yes, it is easier than it sounds. Yes, you can do it. I promise.
  • My goal this year is to do more reading in my spare time (ha!), so I will also post whatever I am reading about here. I may even add a link to it to Amazon or a bookseller of some sort.
My goal is to keep up with this as much as possible, which, in my mind, looks like about three times a week worth of updating. However, I ask any who will read this to be patient with me. I am a husband, a father of three, and a high school English teacher. Side note: The English teacher part does not mean that grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure will be perfect, For those who have found me through Facebook or Twitter, to keep up with the blog I am probably going to do most of my longer writings here, and I will just put links to the blog posts on social media pages.
